De transparencias a IA: el espejismo de la innovación educativa
El cambio que parece, pero no transforma
En la historia reciente de la educación, hemos visto desfilar tecnologías que prometían revolucionar el aprendizaje. El apunte en papel se convirtió en transparencia, la transparencia en diapositiva de PowerPoint y la diapositiva en presentaciones con animaciones y gráficos. Hoy, los materiales pueden ser creados por inteligencia artificial.
En algunos contextos, esto representa un avance importante; en otros, la esencia de la clase sigue siendo similar: el contenido se transmite de forma unidireccional, solo que con un formato distinto. Lo que antes explicaba el docente en persona, ahora puede hacerlo un avatar o una narración automática.
La UNESCO lo señala en su Guidance for Generative AI in Education and Research (2023): el valor de la IA en educación depende de que se integre “de forma ética, inclusiva y centrada en el aprendizaje humano”. En mi interpretación, esto significa que la IA no garantiza innovación por sí misma; sin rediseñar la metodología, puede convertirse en un amplificador de prácticas tradicionales poco efectivas. Producir más rápido lo mismo… incluso si lo mismo no motiva a los estudiantes.
La oportunidad y el riesgo de delegar
Según la OCDE, el potencial de la IA está en “repensar qué enseñar y cómo enseñar” en un mundo de tecnologías poderosas (What Should Teachers Teach and Students Learn in a Future of Powerful AI, 2025). Esto invita a una reflexión: la IA puede liberar tiempo y aportar recursos valiosos, pero si no hay un cambio en la propuesta pedagógica, el impacto puede quedarse en la superficie.
Existen casos en los que la IA ha potenciado experiencias activas, colaborativas y personalizadas. Sin embargo, también puede ocurrir que su integración se limite a cambiar el formato, sin transformar el papel del estudiante ni la interacción en el aula.
El espejismo de la modernización
La OCDE (2024) advierte que la adopción acrítica de tecnologías, incluida la IA, puede ampliar desigualdades si no se acompaña de políticas claras de formación docente y estrategias inclusivas (The Potential Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Equity and Inclusion in Education). Esta advertencia no significa que la IA sea negativa, sino que su valor depende del diseño y la intención educativa detrás de su uso.
El punto de inflexión
La cuestión es cómo y para qué usamos IA en educación. Cuando se utiliza para automatizar tareas repetitivas y liberar tiempo para la interacción humana, es un avance. Pero si sustituye el diálogo, la construcción conjunta y el pensamiento crítico por contenidos generados automáticamente, el cambio es solo estético.
La UNESCO (2023) lo expresa con claridad: la IA debe “ampliar las oportunidades de aprendizaje, no reemplazar la dimensión humana de la educación”. La reflexión que queda es esta: la tecnología es un medio, y la verdadera transformación depende de nuestras decisiones pedagógicas.
